Now that the iOS 11.2.1 download [ext link] has been released, the big question is, can we, at long last, have a jailbreak ? While its fantastic news that Apple is keeping the iOS up to date and free of bugs it does come at a cost. Their frequent updates and additional security measures are throwing a big spanner in the jailbreak works and stopping users from installing their favorite tweaks and apps from Cydia. The jailbreak community is well aware that we can’t always have a jailbreak utility but since iOS 10 was released, things have gotten quite bad. With just Yalu Jailbreak released for iOS 10, it doesn’t look as if things are going to get much better throughout iOS 11, we are, in fact, still waiting for a utility to be released.

In the recent past, we have seen plenty of would-be jailbreaks demoed, but none of them has come to fruition and, right now, the only hope we have is that Yalu jailbreak is updated to support iOS 11.2.1 or that a new team appears out of the woodwork – since iOS 10, the teams we came to rely on in the past, Taig, Pangu and PP, all seem to have gone to ground, leaving us with no communication whatsoever.
There is also the hope that, now iOS 11 is well underway, that we may even see an iOS 11.2.1 jailbreak [ext link] for one of the later iOS 10 versions; after all, not everyone could or did update to iOS 11. However, right now, we are left hanging, waiting for a credible jailbreak developer to come forward and provide us with the access to Cydia that so many of us are missing out on.

Alternatives to iOS 11.2.1 Jailbreak :
We may not have a viable jailbreak at hand right now, but we do have some good news. Several app installers have been released over the last few months, each of them bringing something from Cydia for those who can’t jailbreak. They cannot, in any way, take the place of Cydia because they do not offer the same depth of functionality but, for some of us, they are a decent solution while we wait. These two app installers have both been updated to support iOS 11.2.1 and both are pretty good alternatives:
Emus4U offers one of the most popular features of Cydia, the games emulators. These are the main reason why many chose to jailbreak simply because they let us play some of our favorite console games on our iOS devices. You can choose from a range of different emulators and make use of the built-in screen recorder and a cleaner that clears junk and temporary files from your device. You also get a great choice of paid apps for free and a few Cydia tweaks. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, check out how to download Emus4U [ext link] on your iPhone or iPad
If you want something a little different, then how about TweakBox. This is a comprehensive app installer that offers a lot of different content, from Cydia tweaks, paid and premium apps for free and media apps to modified apps and games like Pokémon Go++ and Snapchat++ [ext link], each modified with all the in-app and premium features for free. All the content is sorted into easy to use categories and is updated on a regular basis so find out how you can download TweakBox by clicking the linked post.
So, there you have it. No jailbreak at the moment but we do have some alternatives that can help you out in the meantime. Obviously, we will keep you updated on any progress with the iOS 11.2.1 jailbreak but do let us know if you try one of these alternatives and how you get on with it.
